- METRONET Morley and Noranda Stations now completed
- Final public art installation and landscaping works are underway at both stations
- Follows the completion of the Ellenbrook, Ballajura and Whiteman Park stations
- Community event on 8 December to celebrate the completion of the new line
The final two stations for the METRONET Ellenbrook Line are now complete, ready for the opening of the new line on Sunday, 8 December.
This follows the completion of Ellenbrook, Ballajura and Whiteman Park stations earlier this year.
Travel from Morley Station to Perth will only be a 15-minute journey, and 18-minutes from Noranda Station into the CBD.
With convenient and modern facilities, the stations both include 400 parking bays and secure bike parking.
Public art features include an arrival statement piece which includes a mural and perforated screens at Morley Station, and sky lights, faade screens and an underpass mural at Noranda Station.
Almost 1000 tonnes of steel was used for the construction of these two stations.
This milestone follows an intensive period of testing and driver familiarisation along the 21-kilometre line.
This project has supported over 6,500 jobs to date and will unlock thousands of new housing options for Western Australians as part of future developments.
The METRONET Ellenbrook Line starts at the new Bayswater Station, with new stations at Morley, Noranda, Ballajura, Whiteman Park and Ellenbrook.
The $1.65 billion METRONET Ellenbrook Line is jointly funded by the Federal and State governments.
As stated by Transport Minister Rita Saffioti:
"The METRONET Ellenbrook Line is powering towards completion, and when it opens later this year it will slash travel times for people across our north-eastern suburbs.
"Communities in our growing north-east corridor have been crying out for better public transport options, and I am incredibly proud that our Government is making that a reality.
"Our Government made a commitment to deliver this rail line, and by the end of this year, passengers will be able to jump on board the first trains."
As stated by Morley MLA Amber-Jade Sanderson:
"These two new stations look incredible and will provide our community with high-quality public transport for many years to come.
"Access to reliable public transport is essential, and the Ellenbrook Line will completely transform how people move around our city."
As stated by Bassendean MLA Dave Kelly:
"It's fantastic to see these two new train stations completed, and in around a month's time, they'll be used by the community for the first time.
"Our Government recognises the importance of high-quality public transport for a better functioning city, and we will continue to prioritise investment that provides the community with better access to buses and trains."
As stated by Maylands MLA Lisa Baker:
"METRONET is transforming our community, with the new train stations in Bayswater and Morley providing better access to public transport than ever before.
"Our Government is proud to be delivering on its commitments and a record of providing high quality and affordable public transport to more people than ever before."
