- Development Application lodged for METRONET precinct housing project
- Almost 50 new townhouses and apartments planned for new Nicholson Road METRONET station
- Development will include a mix of both social and affordable housing
- New Housing will meet Silver Level Livable design standard
The Cook Government has lodged a Development Application to build 49 new townhouses and apartments on an 8,500 square metre State-owned site within the new METRONET Nicholson Road Station precinct.
The project will deliver a mix of one, two and three-bedroom social and affordable homes in Canning Vale, bolstering housing choice and diversity, near a key METRONET precinct.
The Nicholson Road Station is part of the METRONET Thornlie-Cockburn Link, Perth's first east-west cross line connection, making travel more flexible while providing a higher level of public transport service to Perth's south-eastern suburbs.
Once in operation, the station will provide new residents with an efficient journey to the Perth CBD in under 30 minutes.
The 18 townhouses and 31 apartments will be built to Silver Level Livable design standard. The Tulloch Way development is a key component of the Cook Government's Housing Diversity Pipeline.
As stated by Premier Roger Cook:
"My Government is getting on with the job of delivering more safe and affordable housing for Western Australians, and we're building these new homes where residents will have access to key transport hubs and local amenities.
"As part of our efforts to provide housing diversity and choice in Perth's southern suburbs, 49 new homes will be constructed in the METRONET Nicolson Road Station precinct.
"Our $3.2 billion investment in housing and homelessness measures continues to add well-located new homes for WA families and we are driving reforms to ensure these can be delivered as quickly as possible."
As stated by Transport Minister Rita Saffioti:
"Housing remains one of our Government's top priorities and we continue to harness every opportunity to get new developments off the ground.
"This project represents a great opportunity to deliver more housing choice and affordability in a key METRONET precinct.
"The new Nicholson Road Station will be an incredible addition to our rail network, and the delivery of new housing within the precinct will add to the amenity and vibrancy of the entire area."

"The Cook Government is doing everything we can to boost social and affordable housing options across Western Australia, particularly in new apartment and infill developments that provide greater housing choice.
"The Tulloch Way project is a strategically located infill development through medium-density housing in central locations, giving people on lower incomes ready access to jobs, services, transport and amenity.
"We are utilising key METRONET precincts and unlocking lazy government land through the Housing Diversity Pipeline to maximise the potential of the land for social and affordable housing - including developments in Pier Street and Smith Street.
"Our record $3.2 billion investment in housing and homelessness measures is supporting delivery of around 5,000 social homes, with more than 2,450 dwellings already completed, with a further 1,000 under contract or construction."
