Mickleham Man Charged After Drugs In Post

Detectives from ICARUS Taskforce have charged a Mickleham man following the detection of drugs in the mail.

ICARUS Taskforce detectives, with the assistance of Fawkner Divisional Response Unit, executed a search warrant at a residential property on Darwinia Drive, Mickleham, yesterday (Wednesday 2 October).

During the search warrant police seized various quantities of cash, totalling an estimated $82,000 and a machete.

A 38-year-old man was arrested and subsequently charged with four counts of traffick drug of dependence, one count of traffick commercial quantity drug of dependence, and two counts of deal with proceeds of crime.

He has been remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 7 January, 2025.

Police will allege the packages containing illicit drugs were detected on four separate occasions between 26 March and 21 August 2024.

It's alleged they contained quantities of heroin and methamphetamine and were destined for Western Australia.

Icarus Task Force conducts regular mail scanning operations with the assistance of Australia Post and Australian Border Force to identify mail items containing drugs.
