Regional Development Minister Alannah MacTiernan today announced the appointment of former Main Roads WA Mid West Regional Manager Tim Glenister as chairperson of the Mid West Development Commission (MWDC).
Mr Glenister was the most senior representative in the Mid-West region for Main Roads WA for more than 10 years. He has an engineering background and lives in Geraldton.
Mr Glenister has first-hand knowledge of projects in the Mid-West dating back to the early 1980s, working on the Oakajee Infrastructure Planning, the Geraldton Southern Transport Corridor, and Geraldton North-South Highway Planning projects.
Mr Glenister's appointment as chairperson replaces outgoing chairperson Todd West, who has completed his maximum six years on the board.
Sitting board member Craig Patterson has been appointed as deputy chairperson of the MWDC.
As stated by Regional Development Minister Alannah MacTiernan:
"Tim's leadership will pave the way for the Mid West Development Commission to drive the development of infrastructure, tourism and the local economy.
"Tim's strong background in infrastructure planning and delivery will be invaluable in bringing the Oakajee Strategic Industrial Area to the fore.
"At the wheel of the Mid West Development Commission, Tim will help the McGowan Government's commitment to regional diversification, economic growth and local jobs.
"Craig's appointment as deputy brings to the role extensive business experience and passion for the region, and will be important in growing the region's economy while progressing Aboriginal economic development.
"I also wish to extend my great appreciation to outgoing chairperson Todd West for his enthusiastic and dedicated service to the Board.
"Todd is a strong advocate for regional issues and opportunities and brought considerable knowledge and expertise to the role."
