MidCoast Council is thanking the community for taking part in the asset conditions and service consultation. There were over 1,000 responses received from November 2024 – March 2025.
Results from MidCoast Council's community consultation on asset conditions and service levels are now available online at www.midcoast.nsw.gov.au/assetsreview.
"We can be confident in these results. The results show that people want us to maintain most of our assets at a satisfactory condition. Most people recognised that to improve assets to good or very good condition would require a large increase in spending, which the community may not be able to afford" said Council's General Manager, Mr Adrian Panuccio.
The exception was the road network. The community is split on whether to maintain our roads to a satisfactory condition, or to increase spending to improve them.
The service level survey revealed how much people value the range of Council services. Weed management, environmental water quality, flood planning and coastal management were the most valued services. Planning, building and development assessment, and customer service along with communication, engagement and marketing, and waste management were also highly valued.
The results will help develop long-term financial and asset management plans. These plans will be available when complete.
