Detectives from the Midland Rapid High Harm Offender Response team have charged a father and son in relation to a spate of burglary and stealing offences that occurred on Wednesday 29 November 2023.
It will be alleged:
About 4.25am, a stolen Nissan Patrol was used in a ram raid where an attempt was made to steal an ATM from a shopping centre on Beechboro Road, Bennett Springs.
A short time later, the vehicle was driven to an address in Gooseberry Hill where three men entered the home of an 81-year-old man and stole various property items.
About 9.45am, the Nissan Patrol attended a home on Beeches Mews in Brigadoon. The trio smashed a side window to gain entry to the property, stealing a large amount of jewellery, cash and a gun safe containing two riffles.
About 10am, the stolen vehicle was seen driving on Toodyay Road in Red Hill. Officers activated their emergency lights and sirens, however; the driver ignored directions to stop and accelerated away from police.
The vehicle drove recklessly and at speed through multiple suburbs including Jane Brook, Middle Swan, Greenmount, Koongamia and Helena Valley.
On Miller Street in Bellevue, a passenger of the vehicle threw a large backpack containing stolen electric equipment at a pursuing police vehicle.
The vehicle came to a stop after crossing onto the wrong side of Roe Highway and colliding head on with a truck. Fortunately, the driver of the truck was uninjured.
Police arrested the 45-year-old driver and a 17-year-old passenger. The pair were conveyed to hospital for treatment of minor injuries sustained in the crash.
Further inquiries revealed the Nissan patrol was stolen from the home of a 69-year-old man in Rivervale on 24 November 2023.

He is next due to appear before the Midland Magistrates Court on 19 January 2024.
A 17-year-old juvenile male from Beechboro was charged with:
2 x Aggravated Home Burglary and Commit
2 x Stealing
1 x Aggravated Burglary and Commit on a Place
1 x Assault with Intent to Prevent Arrest of a Person
1 x Steal Motor Vehicle
1 x Unlicensed Person Possess Firearm/Ammunition
1 x (Att) Stealing by Opening Locked Room, Box or Other Receptacle by Means of a Key
1 x Stealing by Opening Locked Room, Box or Other Receptacle by Means of a Key or Other Instrument
He is next due to appear before the Perth Children's Court on 24 January 2023.
A third person believed to be involved in the earlier burglaries was not in the vehicle during the pursuit and remains outstanding.
