Midland Detectives have charged three people as part of an ongoing investigation into several incidents which occurred on Wednesday 17 April 2024 and Thursday 18 April 2024.
- Incident 1: About 11:15pm on Wednesday 17 April 2024, two people were seen approaching a residence on Great Eastern Highway, South Guildford. It will be alleged they attempted to enter a locked garage, before fleeing the address when a motion senor light was activated.
- Incident 2: About 12:15am on Thursday 18 April 2024, a woman aged in her 20s was standing on East Street, Guildford waiting for her transport to arrive when an unknown vehicle stopped in front of her and a male person exited the vehicle. It will be alleged the male person was armed with a piece of wood and struck the victim several times before stealing personal property from her.
- Incident 3: About 12:25am on Thursday 18 April 2024, a male person attended a service station and pumped an amount of fuel into the vehicle they were driving. It will be alleged the person then re-entered their vehicle and left without paying for the fuel.
- Incident 4: About 12:40am on Thursday 18 April 2024, there was an attempted burglary at a bottle shop in Baskerville. Although damage was caused to doors and windows, the offenders were unable to gain access and left the scene in a vehicle.
- Incident 5: About 12:55am on Thursday 18 April 2024, a man exited a fast-food restaurant on Maffina Parade, Aveley and returned to is vehicle. It will be alleged a stolen vehicle was used to block his ability to leave his parking bay. It will be further alleged a male person exited the stolen vehicle and approached the victim armed with a tyre iron, in an alleged attempt to steal the vehicle. The victim ran to safety and the offenders left in the vehicle they arrived in.
Three people have been since arrested and charged in relation to their alleged involvement in one or more of the above incidents.
A 15-year-old boy from Kiara has been charged with the following offences:
- Attempted aggravated burglary with intent (Incident 1)
- Aggravated Armed Robbery (Incident 2)
- Aggravated burglary with intent on a place (Incident 4)
- Being armed in a way that may cause fear (Incident 5)
- Attempt to Steal Motor Vehicle (Incident 5)
- Steal Motor Vehicle
He was refused bail and appeared in the Perth Children's Court on Thursday 25 April 2024, and is next due to appear in the same court on Monday 17 June 2024.
A 22-year-old man from Swan View has been charged with:
- Attempted aggravated burglary with intent (Incident 1)
- Aggravated Armed Robbery (Incident 2)
- Stealing (Incident 3)
- Aggravated burglary with intent on a place (Incident 4)
- Being armed in a way that may cause fear (Incident 5)
- Attempt to Steal Motor Vehicle (Incident 5)
- Steal Motor Vehicle
- No Authority to Drive
- Steal Motor Vehicle and Drive Recklessly
He appeared in Midland Magistrates Court on Monday 14 May 2024, and is next due to appear in the same court on Tuesday 1 June 2024.
A 14-year-old boy from Westminster has been charged with the following offences, and is due to appear in Perth Children's Court on Friday 17 May 2024:
- Attempted aggravated burglary with intent (Incident 1)
- Aggravated burglary with intent on a place (Incident 4)
- Steal Motor Vehicle
