Mildura Rural City Council is partnering with Greening Mildura and Bendigo Health - Loddon Mallee Public Health Unit to celebrate the important role trees play in our community.
The It's Not Easy Being Green event on Thursday 18 April from 1:30pm to 4pm at Powerhouse Place will feature guest speakers, including River Cottage Australia and Australia's Favourite Tree's Paul West, and TreeNet's Dr Tim Johnson.
Mr West will discuss the role of home gardeners and addressing climate change, while Dr Johnson will discuss supporting the Australian Community Urban Forestry.
Mr West is an Australian chef and TV presenter, while Dr Johnson began volunteering with TreeNet in 1997, showcasing his passion for bringing trees and nature back to cities and towns.
Councillor for Environmental and Sustainability Jason Modica encouraged the community to support the event.
"Trees are vital for the look and feel of our community," Cr Modica said.
"They provide shade and generally improve the overall look and feel of our streets and parks.
"This event forms part of our Cool It Street Program, which is about to transform more than 50 local streets by planting much needed trees."
