Mildura Arts Centre is set to host the region's third ever Mildura Zine + Art Fair, taking place on Saturday 27 July in collaboration with Melbourne-based zine hub, Sticky Institute.

The biannual event will bring local and national artists together to explore creativity and showcase their work, with activities spread across two iconic locations – Powerhouse Place and Mildura Arts Centre.

Zines, short for 'magazines' are self-published works typically produced in small editions using different creative methods. Zines cover a wide range of topics, from personal narratives and political commentary to poetry and visual art.

From 10am to 4pm at Powerhouse Place, attendees can explore zines, arts and crafts stalls from artists across Australia. This free event offers a unique opportunity to meet zine makers, purchase unique artworks, and see many local artists exhibiting their works.

Throughout the day there will be plenty of children's activities for families to enjoy. Attendees can also explore nearby businesses within the precinct including SPARK, Mildura Art Group and Shippy's Cafe.

Councillor for Arts, Culture and Heritage Helen Healy said that the Mildura Zine + Art Fair is a fantastic opportunity for our community to engage with the vibrant world of zines and independent publishing.

"It's wonderful to see such a diverse range of artistic expression showcased right here in Mildura," Cr Healy said.

"Events like these provide a platform for both established and emerging artists to share their work and connect with audiences in meaningful ways."

From 5.30pm to 7.30pm, the event will continue at Mildura Arts Centre with a free trivia night and live music, hosted by Steph Rogers from local band, Tiny Feet.

The trivia component of the night has sold out due to popularity however those who wish to attend can watch the trivia night in action, enjoy the live music and relax in the Vista Cafe Bar.

Sticky Institute is a zine hub in the Melbourne CBD, featuring a shop and resources devoted entirely to zines, stocking more than 12,000 titles since opening in 2001.
