- The portal, free for suppliers to register, will also support the identification of training, skills and workforce gaps to target investment for manufacturers
Queensland Manufacturing Minister Glenn Butcher has launched a new portal, developed by the Queensland Government in conjunction with Manufacturing Skills Queensland, that will bolster opportunities for Queensland manufacturers by helping them find major projects and connect with other businesses in a supply chain.
The portal, called Supply Queensland, will improve supply chain collaboration and provide a platform for manufacturers to build business connections and support workforce development for Queensland manufacturers.
The portal is available for Queensland-based manufacturers and will allow them to identify possible supply chain partners or major projects and connect with other local manufacturers to explore partnerships.
AI will power the portal to help match Queensland manufacturers with potential tender opportunities and will also match companies who may be offering a particular skilled workforce.
The portal is now live following the launch by Minister Butcher at the Manufacturing Parliamentary Showcase as part of Manufacturing Month.
As stated by Minister for Regional Development and Manufacturing, Glenn Butcher:
"This helps link our local manufacturers with upcoming projects and seize the opportunities here in Queensland. We are inviting all Queensland manufacturers to register on the portal and begin exploring the potential opportunities. The Miles Government is committed to ensuring local businesses benefit from the many projects and opportunities happening now and on the horizon in Queensland and this portal is vital to that.
"We know that manufacturers need to be front and centre to supply into major projects to support opportunities such as Queensland's energy transformation – this is why the Miles Government has invested more than $240 million in supporting manufacturers across the state.
"This allows us to work closely with our manufacturing industry to tailor our approach to training, and to build the pipeline for the future of manufacturing in Queensland.
"We're delivering for Queenslanders, unlike the LNP – who when they were last in government, cut manufacturing support programs and 10,000 jobs were lost in the industry."
As stated by Minister for Employment and Small Business, Lance McCallum:
"This is all about keeping profits in our communities, creating local jobs, and driving Queensland's economic future.
"Unlike the LNP who would sell us out, we're taking a stand for local jobs, local growth, and the future of our Queensland economy.
"While the LNP bow to the whims of their mates at global mining companies, we're backing the backbone of Queensland—our local manufacturers and small businesses.
"The LNPs approach means offshoring jobs, contracts, paycheques, and growth – all while lining their own pockets."

"One of the key benefits offered by the Supply Queensland portal is the ability to showcase your capabilities as a manufacturer – increasing the potential to supply to major contractors, government agencies or partner with other manufacturers.
"Information from the portal will also help MSQ direct investment through our Annual Training Plan to strengthen supply chains and support training, skills and workforce development for the sector.
"To build a sustainably skilled workforce for a future-proofed manufacturing industry, we need to invest in the right tools to support industry. This portal is here to connect and support the manufacturing industry with the skills, opportunities and information to build a thriving manufacturing sector in Queensland."
