The Investing in Queensland Women grant program Super Round allocates $635,000 to 37 organisations delivering projects that promote safety and wellbeing for women and girls; empower their voices and leadership skills; and create lasting positive change within communities.
Grants of up to $25,000 are being provided to successful organisations to deliver the initiatives aimed at empowering and supporting women and girls.
Successful initiatives involve supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, women impacted by domestic and family violence, breast cancer survivors, women with disabilities and those from culturally and linguistically diverse and the LGBTIQ+ communities.
Projects include:
- Impact Community Services Bundaberg: Creating a mobile pop-up shop supporting the health and wellbeing of women to reduce barriers of access in Bundaberg.
- Basic Rights Queensland: Creating resource packs that provide vital legal information for culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
- Coral Sea Foundation Ltd: Training and networking program for First Nations women to enhance understanding of their sea country.
- Epilepsy Action Australia: Educational webinars for pregnant women with epilepsy.
By merging Rounds 1 and 2 for 2024 into one supercharged round, community groups will have 12 months (instead of 6) to implement their initiatives. The super round was boosted to $625,000 thanks to the identification of additional funding.
Since 2021, this grant program has seen a total of 206 initiatives supported from over $1.8 million invested across seven IQW grant rounds to deliver impactful initiatives across urban, rural, and remote regions to promote gender equality throughout Queensland.
The grants program underscores the Mile Government's commitment to improving the lives of Queensland women and girls, no matter where they live.
