Murphy Hawkins has been reappointed as the Mining Warden in Victoria for a further one-year term to 19 November 2025.
The Mining Warden plays an important role in investigating and attempting to resolve mining related disputes by mediation, conciliation and arbitration. The Mining Warden can also make recommendations to the Minister for Energy and Resources.
Mr Hawkins has been the Victorian Mining Warden since he took over the role a in November 2022. Prior to this, Mr Hawkins held the role of Reserve Mining Warden from 2019.
Mr Hawkins brings a wealth of experience to this role with a background as a solicitor as well as skills including in business, engineering, mediation and negotiations.
