Minister Joly Set for Sweden, Czechia Tour

The Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Foreign Affairs, today announced that she will visit Sweden on May 29, 2024, for high-level bilateral meetings, then Czechia, from May 30 to 31, to attend an informal meeting of NATO foreign ministers.

In Stockholm, Sweden, Minister Joly will meet with Tobias Billström, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Sweden, and senior government officials to build on the 2 countries' significant relationship. Minister Joly will emphasize Canada's staunch support for Ukraine and the Ukrainian people. Minister Joly will also seek to strengthen cooperation on transatlantic security and in the Arctic, including through the Canada-Nordic strategic dialogue.

In Prague, Czechia, Minister Joly will meet with her NATO counterparts to discuss key issues of importance to the alliance in advance of NATO's 75th anniversary summit in Washington, D.C., from July 9 to 11, 2024. The Minister will also have a bilateral meeting with Jan Lipavský, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, to discuss the continued support for Ukraine and exchange on other world conflicts.
