Minister Ng Meets Aussie Trade, Tourism Minister

The Honourable Mary Ng, Minister of Export Promotion, International Trade and Economic Development, met Don Farrell, Australia's Minister for Trade and Tourism and Special Minister of State.

At their meeting in Clare Valley, Australia, the 2 ministers discussed opportunities to advance the strong and diversified trade and investment relationship between Canada and Australia, which goes back 130 years.

Minister Ng is leading the Team Canada Trade Mission to Australia, from February 16 to 18, 2025. The mission, which will include over 200 representatives from Canadian businesses, is an opportunity for participants to better understand the Australian market, expand business, and sharpen Canada's competitive edge.

The ministers also discussed shared priorities such as economic security, critical minerals and the growing trade and investment relationship between Canada and Australia, including under the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) and the World Trade Organization.

Minister Ng noted the growing Canadian diplomatic presence in Australia under Canada's Indo-Pacific Strategy, as well as Canada's commitment to supporting Australia while it fulfills its role of Chair of the CPTPP in 2025.
