The Minister for Social Services, Amanda Rishworth has accepted an invitation to attend the inaugural OECD Forum on Gender Equality in Paris from 10 June.
The Albanese Labor Government is committed to putting gender equality at the centre of Australia's economic plan and making women's lives safer, fairer and more equal.
The latest Gender Gap Report from the World Economic Forum shows that since the Albanese Labor Government took office, Australia's world gender equality ranking has jumped up 17 places from 43rd to 26th - the largest increase since the index began in 2006.
Reforms including reforming and modernising the paid parental scheme, expanding the single parenting payment, legislating Australia's first paid domestic violence leave and the National Plan to End Violence against Women and Children 2022-2032 are making a difference for women across the country.
Minister Rishworth will join leaders at the OECD Forum to analyse structural barriers including pervasive invisible barriers such as rigid gender stereotypes and social norms.
The Forum will consider collaborative solutions to addressing gender-based violence, harmful social norms, unequal power relations and gender stereotypes.
While in France the Minister will also meet with experts in gambling harm reduction and ministerial counterparts in the family and domestic violence, and disability sectors.
