We welcomed the Federal Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government, the Hon Catherine King MP to Yalukit Willam Nature Reserve today.
The Minister toured the chain of ponds and the greater reserve with Bayside Mayor, Cr Hanna El Mouallem, Federal Member Josh Burns MP, Cr Alex del Porto, Cr Laurence Evans OAM and Council officers who are delivering aspects of the Yalukit Willam Nature Reserve Masterplan. The Minister was briefed on the proposed plans to further transform the site with wildflower meadows, wetlands and a wonderful gateway building and community facilities.
Having secured $5.5 million in funding through the Community Development Grant to create the wetlands we are now applying for an additional $10 million through the Priority Community Infrastructure Program Grant to build the gateway building and other important infrastructure for the reserve, such as educational facilities and plant propagation space.
