Missing man located after multi-day search operation - Wahroonga

The elderly man missing from Sydney's north has been located alive following a multi-day search operation.

The 79-year-old man was last seen on Woolcott Avenue, Wahroonga, at 10am on Tuesday (27 December 2022).

When he could not be located by friends and family, officers attached to Kuring Gai Police Area Command were notified and commenced inquiries to locate him.

A coordinated land and air search commenced on Tuesday, with assistance from PolAir, the Dog and Mounted Unit, Trail Bike Unit, Public Order and Riot Squad, North West Metropolitan Operations Support Group, NSW SES, NSW Rural Fire Service and the National Parks and Wildlife Service.

About 11.30am today (Friday 30 December 2022), the man was located by NSW SES search crews trapped between trees in North Wahroonga bushland.

An operation was undertaken by emergency services, before the man was freed and treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics. He will be taken to hospital for treatment and some much-needed rest.
