Missing Swimmer's Body Found in Mildura Search

The body of a missing swimmer has been located following a large-scale search in the state's south west.

About 4.20pm on Tuesday 14 January 2025, officers from Barrier Police District and officers from Victoria Police in Mildura responded to reports of a 54-year-old man had failed to return after going for a swim in the Murray River near Mildura.

A multi-agency search involving Barrier Police District, Victoria Police, NSW Police Marine Area Command, SES vessels, Westpac Rescue Helicopter commenced on both sides of the Murray River and along the riverbank.

The search continued to today (Thursday 16 January 2025), when searchers located the body of the missing swimmer in waters nearby.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
