Mitcham Man Charged, Stolen Firearm and Fakes Seized

Illicit Firearms Squad detectives have this morning charged a man and seized a previously stolen rifle and three imitation firearms as part of a targeted investigation into firearm possession.

A warrant was executed at a residential address in Mitcham early this morning (Friday, 14 June).

A 48-year-old Mitcham man was charged with prohibited person possess firearm, prohibited person possess imitation firearm and deal property suspected proceeds of crime.

He was bailed to appear at Ringwood Magistrates' Court on 24 June.

Investigators seized a .22 calibre lever action rifle which had been previously stolen during a burglary in Avenel in 2017, three imitation firearms - two gel blaster handguns and one long arm and a stolen driver's licence.
