The Allan Labor Government is ensuring Moe Racecourse has the best possible race day facilities to meet demand at the popular venue with new upgrades officially unveiled today.
Backed by a $1 million investment from the Labor Government, the Minister for Racing Anthony Carbines visited the racecourse today to celebrate the completion of its improved jockey rooms, administration building and accessible bathrooms.
The project will ensure that jockeys, trainers and staff attending the racecourse have high-quality and fit-for-purpose facilities on race days.
The upgrade features for the administration building include the race day services office, amenities areas, kitchenettes, cleaning rooms and a storeroom.
It also includes a newly installed lift to improve access to the upper level of the administration building, housing two new function spaces with panoramic views of the entire racetrack.
Moe Racing Club also contributed more than $2 million and Racing Victoria provided a further $300,000.
The club hosts 14 races and up to 13 official trials and jump out meetings each year, with 17 trainers and 60 horses working at the racecourse.
Since December 2014, the Labor Government has invested more than $1.3 million to support 12 thoroughbred racing events and six infrastructure projects at the Moe Racing Club.
The thoroughbred racing industry in the Latrobe-Gippsland region contributes more than $89 million for the Victorian economy and helps sustain over 700 jobs in the region.
