Moira Shire Council has announced the appointment of highly experienced regional leader Susan Benedyka to join Council's Panel of Administrators.

Ms Benedyka will join Chair Administrator Dr Graeme Emonson PSM on Council's Panel of Administrators. The Panel is tasked with continuing to ensure a strong focus on the Council's governance, community engagement, effective leadership and to oversee the delivery of the Council Plan 2025 – 2029.

The Panel will also complete the only remaining recommendation from the Commission of Inquiry into Moira Shire Council, which is an electoral representation review, in order to ready Council for local elections in 2028. The electoral representation review will be conducted in 2026.

Susan brings significant experience from roles across a range of Councils, boards and advisory bodies across rural and regional areas, including the Junction Place Community Reference Group, La Trobe University, the North East Integrated Water Management Forum, Albury Wodonga Health and Hume Regional Development Australia.

She also has executive leadership and management experience through roles in regional development organisations.

Susan is passionate about advancing rural and regional communities, with a strong focus on leadership, engagement, governance, policy development and community building.

Panel Chair Administrator Dr Emonson said he was looking forward to working with Susan to keep building on the extensive work of the Panel of Administrators to strengthen Council's community engagement, enable strong governance and deliver positive outcomes for Moira's communities.

"Ms Benedyka has a wealth of experience across a range of industries including local government and a deep understanding of the issues affecting northern Victorian residents, particularly around those issues that border communities like ours face," Dr Emonson said.

"Moira Shire will greatly benefit from Susan's experience in community-centred decision making, and her skills in leadership development, community and stakeholder engagement and strategic planning."

Moira Shire Council's Panel of Administrators have been appointed for a term which will conclude following general elections for Council in October 2028.
