This is the community's opportunity to help shape Moira Shire's environmental future, as Council develops its Environmental Sustainability Strategy 2025-2030. Residents can share their views on how we can protect and improve our environment over the next five years.
Consolidating three previous strategies into one, the future document will focus on key areas including waste and recycling, climate change adaption, protecting biodiversity, water efficiency, and sustainable transport.
By joining the consultation, community members have the opportunity to rank these focus areas, provide feedback on Moira Shire's environmental challenges, and share their thoughts on how we can build a more sustainable future.
Moira Shire Council Chair Administrator Dr Graeme Emonson said community input was critical to ensure the strategy reflects local needs and values.
"We're asking important questions, like, what does an environmentally sustainable Moira Shire look like to you and what can Council do to help community and businesses make environmentally friendlier choices?" Dr Emonson said.
"Whether you're passionate about preserving our waterways, biodiversity, reducing waste, or strengthening climate resilience, this is your chance to make a real impact for our environment and help inform our future strategies."
The online consultation runs until Monday 18 November. To participate and share your insights, visit https://www.moiramatters.com.au/environmental-sustainability-strategy and join the conversation.
