Monash Again Top Research Institution In Australia

Monash University

Monash University has again been revealed as Australia's top institution for research in The Australian's annual rankings of the country's top researchers and research institutions.

Monash was also named the top research institution in the world for rehabilitative therapy, and Nathan Eva and Ben Willem Molits named world leaders in Human Resources and Organisation and Reproductive Health fields respectively.

Released in The Australian today, the Research 2025 rankings position Monash as the top research institution, topping almost double the number of fields as the next closest ranking institution.

Monash was named the top research institution in 55 out of the 250 fields, with the next closest institution named top in 28 fields.

Some 32 Monash researchers have been named as the top Australian researchers in their field.

The rankings also highlight Monash as a 'fast mover', one of the universities whose research influence grew more than 5 per cent in the past year.

Monash Interim Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) and Senior Vice-President Professor Mike Ryan said the University's growing global profile and overseas research links give it a key edge.

"We have the breadth and depth within the institution," said Professor Ryan.

"It's not just a smattering of research stars. We've basically got a whole galaxy of them who work and publish well together."

The Australian's annual research rankings began in 2018 and use data based on the number of citations researchers have received in top academic journals in the past five years.
