Further financial support is now available to support Tasmanians following prolonged power outages and severe damage to homes.
The Australian and Tasmanian governments are continuing to work together to increase the support available to Tasmanians affected by recent severe storms and flooding.
Under the Temporary Living Support Grant, payments of up to $2000 per household where the principal place of residence has been without power for greater than 7 days, or is uninhabitable due to damage.
This Grant is available for each 7 days your household is without power or uninhabitable.
Minister for Emergency Management, Senator Jenny McAllister said the Commonwealth and Tasmanian Governments are committed to supporting impacted communities and will continue to work closely to support disaster recovery efforts.
"We know that it has been a really difficult week for families and communities, and we are committed to supporting everyone impacted by these storms, as we move from response into recovery"
"The Albanese Government is co-funding grants to help impacted Tasmanians with immediate needs. We will continue to work closely the Tasmanian Government with those affected to ensure they get the support they need to recover."
Premier Jeremy Rockliff said these are challenging times for many Tasmanians and the latest grants are just another example of how Governments are supporting those impacted.
"Our Emergency Food Grant Fund program has already supported over 6,000 households who experienced power outages longer than 72 hours.
"While power has been restored to many households, the unprecedented scale of the damage means that thousands of Tasmanians are still waiting to be reconnected."
"For households facing power outages for up to five weeks, this new payment means they are eligible for $10,000 in payments.
"I thank these Tasmanians for their patience. We recognise that these are difficult circumstances, and that going without power creates additional costs."
"We thank the Federal Government for their ongoing interest and concern, and we will continue to work closely to ensure Tasmanians have the appropriate financial support to aid them in the recovery and restoration period.
Assistance is being provided through the jointly funded Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).
Affected individuals can apply for Recovery and Restoration Grants online at: https://www.dpac.tas.gov.au/divisions/cpp/community-grants from 2pm Monday 9 September.
