JOLT is installing the first fast charger at Black Rock carpark at 588 Balcombe Road in November. Other EV charger sites selected in response to community support include Sandringham Library, Highett Station, Black Street carpark in Brighton, Mills Street in Hampton and Seaview shops in Beaumaris.
The 50kW DC fast chargers will be installed in existing parking bays at Council car parks and in on-street parking and offer drivers 7kWh of free charging every 24 hours. The fast chargers are powered by 100% green power
Each installation will take up to two weeks, including some excavation, pouring of concrete footings and electrical work, before installing the charger, associated signage and line markings. Surrounding car parking bays will be closed to ensure a safe work area.
Installing fast chargers in shopping precincts will support our local economy as EV drivers charge while they shop and encourage the take up of electric vehicles.
