Byron Shire Council has received interim funding from NSW Government to carry out initial design investigation as part of the flood damage repair works.
The initial design investigation includes making the first steps in assessing landslips at Mullumbimby, McLeods Shoot, Main Arm, and Montecollum.
To do this work there will be road closures as follows:
- Saturday 28 October near 618 Left Bank Road, Mullumbimby from 8am until 2pm.
- Monday 30 and Tuesday 31 October near 303 and 304 St Helena Road, McLeods Shoot from 8am until 3pm.
- Wednesday 1 and Thursday 2 November near 170 Monet Drive, Montecollum from 8am until 3pm.
- Friday 3 November near 1650 Main Arm Road, Main Arm from 8am until 3pm.
"We apologise for the short notice, but we have been waiting on funding to be approved. Now that we have received it, we want to get started on work promptly, as we know the community have been waiting for some time for this work to be done," said Phil Holloway, Byron Shire Council's Director of Infrastructure Services.
"We will also be beginning work on repairing several gravel roads and guardrails that were damaged during the 2022 floods shortly and will provide more detail on timing soon," Mr Holloway said.
Work on other flood repair projects, such as the reconstruction of Federal Drive and the Huonbrook landslip is progressing well.
