More families in Melbourne's west will soon have a place to call home, thanks to the Allan Labor Government's record investment in social and affordable housing across Victoria.
Construction is now complete on 26 new social homes on Stewart Drive in Werribee, which will provide residents with easy access to public transport, schools, shops, Werribee River Park, and essential services.
Backed by a $9 million investment from the Labor Government, these modern two- and three-bedroom homes will welcome tenants from the Victorian Housing Register this month.
The project has been delivered in partnership with Haven Home Safe - a not-for-profit organisation supporting Victorians at risk of homelessness and women and children escaping family violence.
These new homes are modern and energy efficient, meaning renters will be able to save on their energy bills and stay warmer in winter and cooler in summer.
The homes in Werribee are part of the Labor Government's record investment into social and affordable housing. More than $6.3 billion is being invested through the Big Housing Build and Regional Housing Fund, with more than 10,100 homes underway or complete right across the state.
In the City of Wyndham alone, more than $150 million has been invested in social housing, creating more than 378 new homes for those who need them most.
As stated by the Minister for Housing and Building
"Every Victorian deserves to live in a safe and secure home - that's why we're building social and affordable homes in every corner of the state, including here in Werribee."
"We're proud to partner with community housing providers to provide more homes for our most vulnerable Victorians."
As stated by Member for Werribee John Lister
"These 26 new homes on Stewart Drive will mean more families in Werribee have access to a safe and secure home close to our great schools, the Werribee River Park, and services."
