Hundreds of Victorian children will start their kindergarten journey at local government schools in 2026, thanks to the Allan Labor Government's nation-leading investment in quality early childhood education.
Minister for Children Lizzie Blandthorn joined Member for Cranbourne Pauline Richards at Cranbourne Primary School this week to announce the locations of 13 new kinders opening at schools in 2026.
The 13 new kinders on school sites will create at least 1,600 places for local children, helping to meet demand for three and four-year-old kindergarten, plus pre-prep, in Victorian communities.
All 13 new kinders will be located on government school sites including Cranbourne Primary School and two new schools which are also opening in 2026. The 13 schools are:
- Ardeer South Primary School
- Cranbourne Primary School
- Croydon Hills Primary School
- Gladstone Views Primary School
- Glengala Primary School
- Grovedale Primary School
- Horsham College (Horsham High Campus)
- Kialla West Primary School
- Leneva (Frederic Street Road) Primary School (interim name)
- Traralgon (Kosciuszko Street) Primary School
- Wallan East Primary School (interim name)
- Westgrove Primary School
- Yarrawonga College P-12
Locating kindergartens on or close to schools supports children to get the most out of their early learning, makes drop-off more convenient for busy parents and carers, and helps with a smoother transition to primary school.
Through our nation leading Best Start, Best Life reforms, we are transforming early childhood education to help children thrive, save families money, and support parents and carers to return to work or study if they choose.
As stated by Minister for Children Lizzie Blandthorn
"Connecting kinders with schools offers so many opportunities for our littlest learners - I'm so excited hundreds of children will soon be able to start kinder at their local school."
"We're building hundreds of kinders at schools across the state, helping to meet local demand for kindergarten and making life simpler for hard-working parents and carers."
As stated by Member for Cranbourne, Pauline Richards
"I'm thrilled the Victorian Government is delivering a brand-new kinder at Cranbourne Primary School, making quality early childhood education easier to access and supporting young families with services they need."
