Mansfield Highway Patrol officers were disappointed to detect two vehicles allegedly speeding in wet conditions this morning near Merrijig.
A BMW and Mercedes travelling together were both clocked allegedly travelling at 179km/h in a 100km/h zone on Mount Buller Road about 9am.
The 25-year-old driver of the unregistered Mercedes, who was also disqualified, had his vehicle impounded on the spot at a cost of $1625.
The 23-year-old driver of the BMW will surrender his vehicle to the Vehicle Impound Unit at a later date.
Both drivers will be charged on summons with speeding offences.
