42 new constables will today graduate from the Tasmania Police Academy as the latest batch of Tasmania Police's newest officers.
This cohort of recruits have been at the Academy for the past 28 weeks, six of which involved in-field training at police stations across the state.
Minister for Police, Fire and Emergency Management, Felix Ellis, said our latest graduates come from all walks of life, but have answered the call to join Tasmania Police.
"Under our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future, we are committed to recruiting more Police," Minister Ellis said.
"With 42 graduates today, another 69 recruits in training, and two more courses set to begin in the coming months, this is the largest cohort of police in training Tasmania Police have ever had at one time.
"Record numbers of Police on the beat is allowing this Tasmanian Liberal Government to help the community where it counts, establishing a permanent Strikeforce to target serial offenders, and delivering a relief pool for our frontline Police to maintain staffing at 24-hour stations," he said.
The new recruits will be protecting communities across the state, with 14 heading to the Northern District, 11 to Western District and 17 to Southern District.
