Victorian government schools can now apply for grants to help fund small scale projects thanks to the Allan Labor Government's new Capital Works Fund (CWF).
Minister for Education Ben Carroll today opened applications for the new fund, which was established in Victorian Budget 2024/25 following a $25 million investment.
The initiative supports projects that improve the learning environment, condition, or character of government schools and makes our schools more inclusive for all students - including those with disabilities or additional needs.
Schools can apply for grants of up to $500,000 depending on the size of the project.
Schools can also apply for funding of up to $300,000 for infrastructure projects that make a difference in meeting the educational and social needs of children with disabilities or additional requirements. This includes inclusive playgrounds as well as inclusive indoor and outdoor learning areas.
Funding may be used for a range of projects such as classroom and toilet refurbishments, bicycle shelters, covered outdoor spaces, covered walkways, fences, flagpoles, outdoor learning areas, oval and playground repairs, relocatable building upgrades.
The Labor Government has invested $16.9 billion over the past 10 years to build new schools and deliver more than 2,000 school upgrades − supporting more than 26,000 jobs in construction and associated industries.
Applications for the funds are open until Friday 28 June. Schools with successful applications are expected to be informed by the end of this year.
