More Space To Exercise Your Dogs In Lake Macquarie

Lake Macquarie City Council

Lake Macquarie dog owners can look forward to new areas to exercise their dogs with two new shared off-leash areas introduced at Myuna Bay and Nords Wharf. While the existing shared off-leash area at Morisset has been relocated from Bernie Goodwin Oval to the nearby Gibson Field.

Last year, Council adopted the Dogs in Open Spaces Strategy providing a strategic approach to creating dog-friendly areas. This strategy aims to balance the needs of Lake Macquarie residents and visitors, ensuring safe and accessible open spaces for everyone.

The new off-leash area at Nords Wharf Oval was introduced from Monday 8 July 2024, as was the relocation from Bernie Goodwin Memorial Park to Gibson Field. New signage has been installed at these two locations to clearly mark the boundaries of the dog off-leash areas.

It is anticipated the new dog off-leash area on part of Myuna Bay Foreshore will be available from Wednesday 17 July, with the new signage being installed.

Rangers will be on-site periodically over the next four weeks to educate and remind dog owners of their responsibilities.
