More Support For Our Territory Exporters

NT Government

The Lawler Labor Government is increasing support to our exporters with the delivery of TradeStart services secured in the Territory for the next 4 years.

A key action of the Northern Territory Government's International Engagement Strategy 2022-2026 is to increase international trade to 15% higher than forecasted by 2026.

Mr Iain Forrest has been delivering the service for the past 12 months and will continue as the Northern Territory based TradeStart Senior Trade Officer.

This ongoing appointment means Territory businesses will continue to have access to Austrade's global network and resources, providing businesses with expert advice, connections to customers in overseas markets, and insights to help local businesses develop their export markets.

Co-funded by the Federal and Territory Governments, the program will help small and medium businesses sell their products and services overseas.

The benefit of this network means Territory businesses will gain assistance in developing their export capacity, increasing international trade which will help attract new investment and create local jobs.

TradeStart provides an opportunity for the Territory Government to work more closely with other key agencies and stakeholders to better co-ordinate export assistance and maximise international success for Territory businesses.

For the first time since 1998, the Australian Government's TradeStart network is expanding to include all state and territory governments, as part of a $13 million extension of the program.
