The Allan Labor Government is helping more families in Melbourne's north-west access world-class kinder facilities close to home, with funding for a new integrated children's centre in the City of Hume.
Minister for Children Lizzie Blandthorn today announced $4.5 million in funding to build the Jacksons Creek Community Centre in the Everley Estate, creating 118 additional kinder places for local Sunbury families.
Hume City Council will build the community centre, which will include two kindergarten rooms and offer maternal and child health services alongside community activity spaces.
The project is part of the Labor Government's $12.9 million Building Blocks Partnership with Hume City Council that now includes six new and expanded kindergartens.
Together, the services will deliver up to 450 kindergarten places to families across Hume, while providing essential access to child, family and community services in growing suburbs.
Since 2021, the Labor Government has entered 17 Building Blocks Partnerships, supporting the delivery of 107 new and expanded kindergartens where they are needed most.
The Labor Government is investing billions to build and expand hundreds of kindergartens across the state, supporting the delivery of 15 hours of three-year-old kindergarten each week by 2029 and up to 30 hours of pre-prep each week by 2036.
Through our nation-leading Best Start, Best Life reforms, the Labor Government is transforming early childhood education to help children thrive, save families money, and support parents and carers to return to work or study if they choose.
