Tamworth City Library is offering the opportunity to meet author Rosamund Burton and listen as she discusses her latest book, Whispering Wire - Tracing the Overland Telegraph Line through the Heart of Australia.
150 years after the 3200-kilometre-long Overland Telegraph Line from Adelaide to Darwin was completed, Rosamund Burton traced the path of this largely forgotten strand of wire through the country's vast desert interior to the flood-prone Top End, documenting everything as she went.
Join Ms Burton at Tamworth City Library on Saturday 9 March at 2pm as she recounts her adventures. From cycling 800 kilometres to delivery of an unwieldy campervan, battling piercing winds and pelting rain, learning history from locals and visiting important sites. This sometimes funny, sometimes sad, but always interesting book interweaves history with travel adventures, bringing readers along for the ride.
