The number of Western Australians in work jumped by a massive 15,300 people to a new record 1.63 million people in November, according to Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) Labour Force data released today.
Since WA Labor came to Government in 2017, more than 333,000 jobs have now been created.
WA's unemployment rate fell to just 3.3 per cent in November, down from 4 per cent in October, the lowest of the states and well below the national rate of 3.9 per cent.
Western Australia's unemployment rate has now been at or below 4 per cent for 37 of the past 38 months, the longest period of sustained unemployment in the 46 years of ABS reported data.
Underemployment also continues to be the lowest of the states at 5.5 per cent and participation, the highest of the states at 68.8 per cent.
The strength of the labour force has been underpinned by the WA domestic economy, which continues to outpace the rest of the nation, growing by 4.7 per cent over the year to September, more than double the national growth rate of 2.1 per cent.
The ABS has also released its June quarter population data, which showed that Western Australia's population grew 2.8 per cent in 2023-24 (or 81,400 people), still the strongest in the nation, but down from the peak of 3.4 per cent growth (or 96,300 people) over the year to September 2023.
As stated by Treasurer Rita Saffioti:
"Another month and another record for the Western Australian job market and our economy.
"It's great to see another 15,300 people find work in November, with a record of more than 1.63 million Western Australians now employed.
"Despite the national economy experiencing headwinds from higher interest rates, the WA economy continues to outperform, with unemployment at 3.3 per cent, the lowest of the states.
"The strength of our job market has been incredible, with unemployment at or below 4 per cent for 37 of the past 38 months.
"WA has the strongest economy in the nation and keeping it that way will continue to be our top priority, so all Western Australians can have quality, local jobs."
