Operation Soteria officers have laid additional charges against a teenage boy following further investigations into alleged break and enters, vehicle thefts and other offences in the state's north.
Officers attached to New England Police District - under Operation Soteria - have been conducting investigations into multiple alleged break and enters and property offences in Moree which police believe have occurred between December 2023 and January 2024.
These reported incidents include alleged armed break and enters, robberies, and vehicle thefts.
About 5.45pm Sunday 23 March 2025, operation investigators attended an address in Moree, after receiving information a 17-year-old boy wanted on three outstanding warrants was in the home.
When he allegedly refused to leave the premises, police forced entry and arrested the teen.
He was taken to Moree Police Station where the warrants were executed, and he was refused bail to appear at a Children's Court yesterday (Monday 24 March 2024).
About 12.30pm yesterday (Monday 24 March 2025), investigators attached to Operation Soteria executed a search warrant at an address in Moree where clothes and an electronic device were seized.
Following inquiries the 17-year-old boy was further charged with:
- Two counts of aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence,
- Two counts of enter building/land with intent to commit indictable offence,
- Two counts of face blackened/disguised with intent to commit indictable offence,
- Two counts of take and drive conveyance without consent of owner,
- Two counts of be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner,
- Enter vehicle or boat without consent of owner/occupier, and
- Demand property by force in company with intent to steal.
He was refused bail to appear before a Children's Court today (Tuesday 25 March 2025).
