Morgenthau Leads Trade Mission to Papua New Guinea

Department of State

Special Representative for Commercial and Business Affairs Sarah Morgenthau will lead a U.S. private sector delegation to Papua New Guinea from November 18-20 to expand our bilateral economic cooperation and commercial ties.

The delegation, organized with the Business Council for International Understanding (BCIU), consists of representatives from a dozen U.S. companies operating in the technology, education energy, mining, healthcare, water, and transportation sectors.

Special Representative Morgenthau and the delegation will meet with senior officials in Papua New Guinea's government to explore new business opportunities and highlight U.S. initiatives to deepen our shared economic security. She will also meet with local participants in the joint U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) partnership with Nationwide Microbank (MiBank) to support small businesses and women's economic empowerment.

This delegation follows the first ever U.S.-Papua New Guinea Strategic Partnership Dialogue, which was held in Washington, D.C. last month.
