- Works to upgrade the Morley Drive and Bath Road intersection have commenced
- When finished, the roundabout will improve safety and efficiency
- Completion is expected by mid-2025
Construction of a new dual-lane roundabout at the intersection of Morley Drive and Bath Road is now underway.
The new dual-lane roundabout will reduce congestion, improve safety and enhance traffic flow for more than 25,000 motorists who use the area every day.
Service relocations were completed early in 2024 and further work, such as clearing and service investigations, have been occurring in recent weeks in preparation for the start of construction.
Other works to be completed as part of the project include street lighting upgrades and improved access for shared path users, with the existing path realigned and median refuges created on all three legs of the intersection.
A $5.6 contract was recently awarded to Ertech to deliver the new roundabout.
The project was an election commitment by the State Labor Government and is expected to be completed by mid-2025.
As stated by Transport Minister Rita Saffioti:
"Right across our State, our Government is investing in local road projects just like this, which will improve traffic flow, safety and efficiency on our road network.
"A new dual-lane roundabout will help alleviate a lot of the congestion and safety issues at this intersection and is predicted to reduce the number of crashes by more than 80 per cent.
"The State Government is delivering on this important election commitment to address the safety issues at this intersection."
As stated by Morley MLA Amber Jade Sanderson:
"This intersection is a major concern to the local residents and road users.
"I'm proud to be part of a Labor Government delivering on this important election commitment."
