Mornington Peninsula Shire has just released the first package consisting of three tenders, relating to Building Maintenance.
This is a competitive tender process for the delivery of Building Maintenance services, ensuring residents and visitors can continue to enjoy safe, clean and efficient buildings, throughout the Mornington Peninsula.
Our current infrastructure maintenance services contract (which includes buildings maintenance) ends on 30 June 2024. We are changing the way we maintain our buildings and facilities. We seek to work more directly with specialist suppliers and contractors, in a shared risk, shared ownership and collaborative management approach.
Through this tender process, we hope to see interest from local contractors and suppliers, with service contracts on offer up to eight years in duration.
Mornington Peninsula Shire maintains over 500 habitable buildings, as well as nearly 600 other structures like sheds, shelters and public toilets.
The successful tenderers will deliver Building Maintenance across a variety of services. For this first package, services include graffiti management for all assets in the Shire, essential safety measures (ESM) maintenance and heating and cooling (HVAC) maintenance, in buildings.
From 1 July 2024, we will have a series of direct service contracts in place, with a variety of contractors to deliver building and facilities maintenance. We are also introducing an inhouse trades team. The new Coordinator Building Trades position has recently been filled, and the Trades Officer positions are to be advertised late September 2023.
The remaining service contracts relating to Building Maintenance are planned for tendering over the coming six months.
The first three Building Maintenance tenders are now available at tenderlink.com/mornpen, along with all the information needed to make a submission. Tender submissions for the first three contracts close at 3pm Wednesday 11 October 2023.
Quotes attributable to Mayor Councillor Steve Holland:
"The Building Maintenance tenders addresses our community's expressions of concern on building and facility maintenance and safety. This includes graffiti management, security, pest control and more.
"We are very thankful for the decade-long relationship with Ventia, who have held this contract. Moving forward, we are looking at how we can improve our buildings and facilities, as well as working more hands-on with local suppliers and contractors."
