Police have arrested a man after allegedly riding 80km's over the speed limit in Longwarry this afternoon.
Officers first saw the motorcycle riding along O'Brien Road in Catani, about 5.18pm.
They attempted to catch up to the motorcyclist as it is alleged that it was travelling at 180km in a 100km zone, overtaking other vehicles.
Police lost sight of the motorcycle but located it a short time later in Oak Avenue, Longwarry.
The rider was arrested at the scene.
A 48-year-old man from Drouin has been charged with speed dangerous, driving whilst disqualified, failing an oral fluid test, affix false number plates and driving unregistered motorcycle.
He has been bailed to appear at the Latrobe Magistrates' Court on 2 August.
The motorcycle was impounded at cost of $895.
