Excitement for Red CentreNATS has shifted up a gear with the inclusion of several new elements this year. For the first time, the Ultimate Festival of Wheels, which returns to Alice Springs from 1-4 September 2022, will include an official round of the iconic Mulletfest competition, plus a unique instalment of Pub Choir at Alice Springs Inland Dragway (ASID).

This is in addition to an already jam-packed program featuring everything from the Burson Auto Parts Australian Top Fuel Championship, Top Doorslammer Australia and Heavy Hitters Drag Racing to the Great Northern 4WD Course, Yeperenye Shopping Centre Street Parade, Shannon's Show N Shine and Lasseter's Motorkhana, to name a few.

A highlight on the 2022 Red CentreNATS program is the Mulletfest competition, which will take place on Friday, 2 September at ASID from 7.30pm - 8.30pm and on Saturday, 3 September from 1pm-2pm. Open to both adults and children, the competition features categories such as 'Grubby', 'Extreme' and 'Ranga'. The Best Family Mullet competition will be held on Sunday, 4 September at Blatherskite Park from 2pm - 3pm, and the overall Mulletfest winner and Best Kids Mullet winner will be announced at the Podium Party on Sunday, 4 September from 6pm.

In addition, spectators can warm up their vocal cords at the official Red CentreNATS Pub Choir, which will take place at ASID on Saturday, 3 September from 8.45pm - 9.30pm. This will involve hundreds of spectators joining in a sing-a-long led by conductor Astrid Jorgensen. Anyone can become involved in Pub Choir, with regular punters set to be transformed into musical legends just by turning up and participating.

The much-anticipated Red CentreNATS wedding will also take place this year, after it was postponed in 2021 due to COVID-19 restrictions. Canberra's Bonnie Barber and Joel Sykes will tie the knot at a 4pm ceremony on Saturday, 3 September at Blatherskite Park, with all event goers invited to attend. A reception will follow on Sunday, 4 September at Lasseter's Centre of Entertainment as part of the Podium Party. It will feature an AC/DC tribute band.

This year's event will also include the five-star Eljay Freestyle Entertainment Show at Blatherskite Park. Combining the excitement of motorcycle and bicycle stunts, the show is a character-driven comedy/action spectacle offering something for all members of the family.
