- Upgraded career and volunteer fire stations now open in Kalgoorlie

The Cook Labor Government has fulfilled a major election commitment in the Goldfields, with $3.2 million in upgrades to the career and volunteer fire stations in Kalgoorlie now complete.
Premier Roger Cook was in the Goldfields today to mark the major milestone, which provides a further boost to community safety in the busy region.
A $1.9 million upgrade to the Kalgoorlie Career Fire and Rescue Service (CFRS) station on Boulder Road was undertaken by experienced Western Australian builders HS Hyde & Son.
The design boasts two new post-incident hygiene showers, new training and gym facilities, a refurbished kitchen and extra study and storage areas. More works are underway with a new training tower and road-crash rescue pad expected to be completed by mid-2025.
The expanded facility will allow for a greater number of career firefighters to be on shift at any given time. This supports a boost to the brigade's frontline, delivered as part of a 2021 multimillion-dollar State election commitment to deploy 36 additional firefighters across regional WA.
Upgrades to the Kalgoorlie Volunteer Fire and Rescue's headquarters on Hare Street, which were completed by Goldfields builders DJ McGinty & Co, were also recently completed.
The $1.3 million project delivers an extra appliance bay, a dedicated communications room, new showers and toilets, a breathing apparatus hygiene sink and new changing facilities.
Community members are invited to explore the new Kalgoorlie CFRS station and learn more about the Fire and Rescue Service at a family-friendly open day on Saturday, 31 August.
As stated by Premier Roger Cook:
"This $3.2 million investment in emergency services in the Goldfields is an important milestone for community safety and represents the delivery of a major election commitment.
"Kalgoorlie's expanded career station will support extra firefighters to respond to an increasing number of complex emergencies in regional WA.
"Keeping jobs within Western Australia is a priority for my Government, so it's great to see these works completed by experienced local builders."
