Multiple arrests with weapons and drugs seized as part of warrants across Prahran and South Yarra

Prahran Police have continued to tackle drug crime in the area, with four people arrested and more than $43,000 worth of drugs seized following a number of warrants this week.

Across three days earlier this week, the Prahran Divisional Response Unit (DRU) and Prahran frontline officers executed a series of unrelated search warrants at residential addresses in South Yarra and Prahran in relation to persons of interest for drug related offending.

In total, police seized approximately 725 grams of illicit substances including what is alleged to be 30 grams of cocaine, 60 grams of methylamphetamine, 35 grams of heroin, 600 grams of cannabis and a small amount of prescription drugs with a combined estimated street value of approximately $43,000.

Other items seized include:

• An imitation handgun

• Prohibited weapons including two flick knives, a taser and a sword

• Drug manufacturing equipment

Those arrested included:

A 41-year-old man from South Yarra was arrested and charged with trafficking and the possession of cocaine, prohibited person possessing an imitation firearm, possession of a controlled weapon and committing an indictable offence while on bail. The man has been bailed to appear before the Melbourne Magistrates Court on 14 October 2021.

A 42-year-old man from Fitzroy was arrested and charged with trafficking and the possession of methylamphetamine, trafficking and possession of heroin, trafficking and possession of cannabis, dealing with proceeds of crime, possessing prohibited weapons, possessing prescription medication. The man has been remanded in custody to appear before the Melbourne Magistrates Court on 16 September 2021

A 45-year-old male from Prahran was arrested and charged with possession of methylamphetamine, possessing a prohibited weapon, possession of equipment to manufacture a drug of dependence. The man has been bailed to appear before the Melbourne Magistrates Court on 7 March 2022.

A 44-year-old male from Melbourne was also arrested and interviewed by police. He was released pending further enquiries.
