Murray River Council has endorsed its 2023/24 Annual Report, marking another successful year of delivering key services and initiatives for the community.

The Annual Report provides a comprehensive overview of projects completed, strategic priorities addressed, and the work being done to ensure a strong and sustainable future for the Murray River region.

Mayor John Harvie commended the former Council's efforts over the past financial year.

"This Annual Report reflects the Council's dedication to delivering meaningful outcomes for our community whilst also taking several actions to 'future-proof' the council's financial sustainability. This includes extensive evaluation of current practices and spend, and a staged approach to streamlining assets and services."

Cr Harvie said the 2023/24 year was marked by some significant achievements too.

"Our teams made remarkable progress in an extensive flood recovery capital works program following widespread destruction from the October 2022 floods."

"We delivered the largest capital works transport program in our history, mostly in-house, demonstrating our commitment to maintaining high standards of public service in the face of adversity. I commend all our staff for their efforts."
