Muswellbrook Hospital Redevelopment Stage 3 Begins

NSW Gov

Construction is under way for the next stage of the Muswellbrook Hospital Redevelopment.

The NSW Government is investing $45 million in the Stage 3 Redevelopment to deliver enhanced health facilities for the community.

To mark the milestone, three Old Man Saltbush trees will be planted outside the future Community Health Space to be delivered as part of the project.

The project team consulted local Aboriginal horticulture specialists in the planting of the trees, which are hardy and local to the area, and were traditionally used by local Aboriginal people as bush tucker.

Stage 3 will create a more integrated health facility for patients, staff, and visitors.

This Stage of the redevelopment will include:

  • A new Operating Theatre suite (1 Operating Room, 1 Procedure Room)
  • A new Sterilising Department
  • Relocation of Community Health clinical spaces into the existing hospital

Construction will commence on the Operating Theatre followed by the Community Health area. Works on the Sterilising Department will take place when the new Operating Theatre is complete.

Construction is expected to be completed in 2027.

The project is being delivered by Hunter New England Local Health District and Health Infrastructure with Richard Crookes Constructions as principal contractor.
