Myanmar-born Man Charged With Visa Breach In Queensland

A Myanmar-born man is expected to appear before Brisbane Magistrates Court today (31 January, 2025), charged with allegedly failing to comply with one of his visa-mandated conditions.  

The man, 47, was served a court attendance notice on 3 January, 2025, after he was located in Logan.

It will be alleged the man breached a condition of his Commonwealth visa on 29 December, 2024, by contacting a victim of an offence.

The man has been charged with one count of contacting a victim of an offence, contrary to section 76DAC of the Migration Act 1958 (Cth). 

This offence carries a maximum penalty of five years' imprisonment and/or a $93,900 fine.
