NAIDOC Week Support

MidCoast Council

MidCoast Mayor, Claire Pontin, calls on everyone in the community to get behind and support and attend some of the many NAIDOC Week activities around our region.

"It's a great opportunity for all of us to learn a bit more about our local Aboriginal culture. The Gathang people have a proud and strong history in the region and the NAIDOC events are a great way to get involved," Cr Claire Pontin said.

NAIDOC Week runs from 7 to 14 July and this year's theme is Keep the fire burning! Blak, loud and proud and MidCoast Council is proud and excited to celebrate our local Aboriginal community.

We run a NAIDOC Grants program which provides $4,000 in support for community-led events during the special week.

These community events will be held on Wednesday 10 July at Tobwabba Reserve Forster, Friday 12 July at Queen Elizabeth Park Taree, Tuesday 16 July at Tea Gardens Public School and Saturday 13 July at Gloucester Sports and Recreation Centre.
