Nanjing University (NJU) and the Publications Division of the American Chemical Society (ACS) will sign a three-year memorandum of understanding (MOU) during a ceremony on Aug. 16. This solidifies their shared interest in supporting researchers globally, which includes launching a new partner journal, Chemical & Biomedical Imaging. This journal is another collaboration in this partnership that focuses on delivering top science to the research community.
Chemical & Biomedical Imaging will be a peer-reviewed, open access journal devoted to the publication of cutting-edge research in all areas of chemical and biomedical imaging. This interdisciplinary field sits at the intersections of chemistry, physics, biology, materials, engineering and medicine. The journal will highlight the latest challenges of fundamental research and applications in this expansive field via articles, reviews, letters, technical notes, perspectives and viewpoints.
"Nanjing University and ACS have been successful in collaborating in numerous joint impactful programs over the years," says Lu Yanqing, Ph.D., vice president of NJU. "With this MOU, we are looking to further strengthen our partnership with the objectives of advancing science, nurturing innovation and supporting researchers through international cooperation."
The inaugural editor-in-chief of Chemical & Biomedical Imaging is Zijian Guo, Ph.D., of NJU. Guo is an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. His research focuses on the chemical biology of metals and metallodrugs, of which a particular focus of his lab is on the design and application of fluorescent sensors for biological metals, such as zinc, copper and iron.
"Chemical & Biomedical Imaging will highlight pioneering research in new imaging mechanisms, technologies and materials, as well as their innovative applications in chemistry, life science and medicine," says Guo. "Leveraging the world-class publishing platform of ACS, I look forward to working with top global scientists and colleagues to build a highly impactful international journal that will serve the interdisciplinary research community."
"We are delighted that NJU has chosen to partner with ACS Publications on the launch of Chemical & Biomedical Imaging," says James Milne, Ph.D., president, ACS Publications. "Not only will this partnership support the growth of a valuable journal in an important field of science, it will also facilitate organization of events and develop other opportunities for researchers around the world to engage with one another and share their collective research experiences."
Chemical & Biomedical Imaging will begin to accept submissions in late 2022.
