Narrawallee Beach Dog Access Arrangements Formalised

Permanent arrangements for dog access have now been established for Narrawallee Beach.

At this week's meeting, councillors voted to uphold and formalise the interim access arrangements that have been in effect since late 2023.

Under the arrangements, dogs will be permitted to be off-leash in the central portion of Narrawallee Beach during designated times.

Access to the timed off-leash area is provided by six beach access tracks through Matron Porter Drive Reserve.

The northern boundary of the timed off-leash area on Narrawallee Beach will also be extended north to the next beach access track, providing additional space for dogs and handlers.

Under the permanent arrangements, dogs will not be permitted to access the beach via the Victor Avenue and Surfers Avenue stairways.

Dogs will also be prohibited south of the main beach access track in Matron Porter Drive Reserve, at the northern end of Narrawallee Beach and within the Narrawallee Inlet Reserve.

The Council's decision follows community consultation undertaken in May 2024 and is supported by the findings of environmental assessments.

The permanent arrangements will come into effect from 1 September 2024 with the Dog Off-Leash Guide and signage to be updated in the coming weeks.

Interim dog access arrangements will remain until the new arrangements come into effect.
